There is a nearly forgotten cemetery on the grounds of The Fox Mill Park in Reston, Fairfax County, Virginia. The entrance to the park is on Fox Mill Road about a mile south of the intersection of Reston Parkway and Lawyers Road. The cemetery is in the wooded area that is directly across from the soccer/football field. It is short distance down a park footpath and is surrounded by a recently erected wooden fence. In addition to severe weathering, the cemetery was terribly vandalized at one time. All the slate grave markers were knocked down and all are broken. There is evidence that there were some carved headstones, there is at least one headstone base and some small, scattered stone pieces, but there are no carved intact or broken pieces of headstones within the cemetery or the immediate surrounding area. After a respectful examination of the slate marker pieces (I tried to disturb them as little as possible) it appear that they may have been painted with names and possibly other information. None could be read at all. I did find two stone pieces that were clearly carved with the initials: JFG and MAB. It appears, from the scattered slate and stone pieces and some ground depressions, that there may have been about, but no more than, 24 grave sites. This is a very, very rough estimate. The cemetery is lacking any name information and therefore I have named it The Fox Mill Park Cemetery. Should I discover the proper name, I will send that information at a later date. Description
Since Quakers did not use headstones, this has been more difficult to describe, however much work has been done by the trust over the past 5 years, especially since Mr. Juan Young present owner, wanted to bulldoze it down.
Other Problems
We just returned from a dedication of an historical highway marker for this sight. To further destroy this, as Mr. Young wants to do, is an affront to the families who were represented here. If this were Ca. it would not be allowed since such sites are well valued.

Other Information:
I have located my Ford family plot with no help from the city. The grave markers are missing, the plot is overgrown, and homeless people are sleeping there. I have many other family members buried in Maplewood and I'm very distressed that the city of Charlottesvile Virignia has stopped the perpetual care which they are requred to provided to those of us who's families bought plots in the cemetery. Three years ago the city removed the cemetery's caretaker. The only thing the city provides now is grass cutting and the man doing that is damaging the garve stones with his mower. It is appalling that this being allowed to happen and I want to put a stop to it.
