This cemetery was sold to the American Legion in 1948. It was intended for a clubhouse & park. Agreement was made to install a gate (where a fence & road connecting to Rural Cemetery to the east is located). There was intentional false documentation submitted to obtain zoning & the County Planning Commission stopped the rebuilding, as, under law this is NOT an abandoned cemetery because it contains approximately 3,500+ graves news report in 1955). The site was sold off and the paperwork showing that the graves were removed was again submitted and the sale was approved. All buildings presently on the property (convalescent home & medical offices) were built using these falsified documents (unknowingly). Out of 5+ acres, only 1.3 acres is undeveloped. Approximately 3 acres is parking lot. This cemetery is part of a 15 acre parcel. It was stated that no burials were made on the other 10 acre parcel, but I have been told by others in the area, that bodies were found when Oak Park Hospital

We have not, as of this date found the present owner of the property. Trying to get permission to erect a sign which will include a map from 1902 showing the exact location, name of the cemetery & contact information.
